The reason why I applied to the University of Tsukuba’s School of Applied Science and Engineering is because of its rich interdisciplinary nature. Some laboratories are developing materials, others are developing small MRIs, others are working on proteins, electronics, biotechnology, etc., etc. The degree of freedom is very high. Therefore, even if you are somewhat interested in engineering but do not have anything in particular in mind, you can decide your own path in the course of your studies. If you already know what you want to do, you can use the ARE to do research at an early stage. From my point of view, I strongly recommend that technical college students transfer to the University of Tsukuba in order to further develop the foundation they have learned at the technical college.

Also, at the University of Tsukuba, it is possible to take classes not only within a school but also in other schools. This was very new to me, having studied at a technical college, and I was very impressed with the art design class. I realized that I could change my way of thinking by acquiring knowledge that I do not usually specialize in.

I think the rich internationality of the University of Tsukuba is one of its charms. There is not a day that goes by that I do not pass an international student walking around the campus. Interacting with them is not only a great opportunity to improve your language skills, but also a very good chance to discover a part of yourself that you did not know. After my exchange with them, I also decided to study abroad in France for a year in a double degree program with the University of Grenoble. There are also many other scholarships and other programs that support those who are willing to take on challenges, and you can go on and on depending on yourself. I hope that you will join us at the University of Tsukuba to learn and grow together!
