We can respond to changes in society,
We cultivate imaginative human resources who can respond to changes in society.

The field of science and engineering has two facets: the domain of “science,” which explores the truth of nature, and the domain of “technology,” which leads to technologies that contribute to society, but the boundary between the two is not clear. Today’s basic research in the field of science includes no small number of areas that contribute to social life in tangible ways. In the field of engineering, in order to meet the demands of an increasingly complex and diverse society, there is a demand for cross-disciplinary studies that transcend the boundaries of conventional disciplines and departments, as well as basic science perspectives.
The Department of Applied Science and Engineering aims to educate students in “Science x Technology,” especially in the fields of materials science, measurement and control, electronics, and life science as applications of physics and chemistry, and to develop new materials and technologies that serve as basic elements.
