B.S. Applied Science and Engineering
Completed Graduate School of Mathematical and Material Sciences
Currently Asahi Quality and Innovations, Ltd.

When I was in high school, I learned that there is such a thing as a catalyst for creating new chemical substances, and I became interested in fields related to chemistry and materials. In considering where to go on to higher education, I learned that research on environmentally friendly catalysts and the development of new materials was being conducted at the School of Applied Science and Engineering. In addition, as I had not yet decided on my future path when I was in high school, I felt that the School of Applied Science and Engineering, where I could decide on my specialty as I studied a wide range of subjects, was a good fit for me.
I had a hard time every time I took a regular test soon after entering the school, but I now have good memories of studying hard. At the School of Applied Science and Engineering, I studied a wide range of fields based on mathematics, including physics, chemistry, and biology. I am now doing intellectual property work at a company, and new technologies that are developed every day are created in boundary areas that cannot be categorized as either physics, chemistry, or biology. Having a wide range of basic knowledge is a great help to understand complex technologies and to talk with various specialists.
The University of Tsukuba has a wide range of academic departments, including physical education and the arts, which allows students to meet a variety of people. The University of Tsukuba has a university-wide sports event called Sports Day, and I was involved in organizing it as a member of the executive committee. I learned a lot about the difficulties and joys of working together with my fellow students to manage the event. I think the good thing about the University of Tsukuba is that you can have a variety of experiences in addition to studying.
For those of you who are considering where to go to school, why don't you visit the campus? I think you will find the School of Applied Science and Engineering attractive when you step onto the spacious campus surrounded by greenery and experience the university's research at the summer school and other events.
